Session
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS)
We will discuss what is a Request for Evidence (RFE) and when one may be issued by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The panel will analyze the USCIS policy memorandum on issuing RFEs and explore common RFEs issued in the H and F context for case studies. Speakers will share their expertise in deciphering what an RFE may be asking and tips on drafting replies. The panel will also provide a review of relevant legal sources, legal standard, and writing tips. We will discuss supervisory review, explore when to use outside counsel, and share strategies on how to mitigate RFEs.
